You don’t have to be modest, by asking something from Allah. You don’t ask a King for only a Penny, do you?
-Marcel Krass (translated from german)
By asking Allah for something and making dua, you are acting upon the following beautiful Verse of the holy Qur’an:

And when My servants ask you (O Muhammad concerning Me, then answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My knowledge).
I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any partner).
So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.
(Quran 2:186)

You can ask Allah anything you want, and as much as you want, as long as it is good and halal. But before you ask him for the things you would like to have in your life, make sure to fulfill the etiquettes of making dua. There is a right and proper way to make dua. Remember that we must praise Allah first, ask for peace and blessings upon our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and then make our dua.

Make your Duas at times, which are readily accepted. This are among others, to mention a few:

  • A Dua Made between the Adhan and the Iqamah….
Hazrat Anas ibne Malik (ra) narrates that Rasul Allah (saw) said:
“A Dua made between the Adhan and the Iqamah is never rejected. The Sahabah asked; what Dua should we make, O Rasul Allah (saw )? He (saw ) replied; Ask Allah for Afiyah (well being) in this world and in the Hereafter.”
    [Tirmidhi :3594]
  • The Du’a Made At Tahajjud Is Like An Arrow Which Does Not Miss It’s Target♦
    Imam Ash-Shafi’i
  • When you travel,
    Our Rasulullah (saw) said:
Three supplications are answered, there being no doubt about them: that of a parent, that of a traveller and that of one who has been wronged
(Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah)By making your dua, Allah has always 3 replies to our prayers:
    2.yes, but not now
    3. i have a better plan for you

There is never a no for a dua. Allah never forgets or neglects you. That is his promise.

Salman (ra) narrates thatRasullulah (saw) said: “Surely Allah (swt) is living , generous. He feels shy if a person raises his hands to Him and He does not place any good in them.”[Abu-Dawud]
